The Man
John Candy was a Canadian actor and comedian. Born in Toronto, he first gained notoriety as a performer in the Second City and in SCTV, Canada’s answer to Saturday Night Live. He went on to star in 40 films including Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Splash!, Home Alone, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Uncle Buck, Spaceballs, Only the Lonely and JFK. He also become co-owner of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He was husband to Rosemarie and father to Jen and Chris Candy at the time of his death in 1994.
