John always made me laugh and in today's world, that's worth more than gold and jewels.
But more than that, and difficult to articulate, is that in every role I ever saw him in, he somehow connected with me in a very basic and special way; like if I walked down my street one block, and knocked on my neighbor's door, John would answer...

John Candy was the kind of person who you instantly liked and some how knew he would be a true friend. My husband and I love all his movies. We were so heart broken the day he died. Still miss him... |

You know, some days I actually hope for a rainy day where it gives me an excuse to lay on the couch and watch the John Candy marathon! Armed and Dangerous, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Great Outdoors, Summer Rental...such an amazing person - I never get sick of watching his movies combined with his smile and laugh! I've written to John Hughes (tried to before he passed) to see if they can't bring out all the un-seen footage of Planes Trains and Automobiles! Has anyone tried to initiate this request? |

John Candy still is one of my favorite actors of all time. Every movie he was in was always great. He just seemed so happy and fun to be around. He will be forever missed. The world lost an amazing person way to soon. |

I'm glad that this website exists! Just added a Planes Tranes, and Automobiles movie poster on the wall on my downstairs movie room. What a classic John Candy was/is. Everytime I hear Ray Charles "Mess Around" on the radio, I can't help but play the 'dash piano' like Del Griffith did. |

I just LOVED John Candy and I've seen nearly every film he made. I remember the day he died, it was as sad then as it still is to this day. What lovable, gentle man. I wonder if he really understood how much joy and happiness he truly brought to his fans? At least we still have him on film, to remind us forever,of this beautiful man and his wonderful talent. |

Just finished watching Uncle Buck for a millionth time or so. Everytime when the film ends in a freeze frame John waving his hand, I wave back. I bet I'm not the only one and I'm sure the waves are going to him: where ever he is. Love you, Mr. Candy! |

I've NEVER been one to hold celebrity in any esteem... But I have to say John Candy really struck a chord in my life (and continues too). His characters had a real genuine sense about them... I've never missed any celebrities who have passed... But I genuinely miss John Candy. |

Loved many of John Candy's films. My favourites are Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Cool Runnings. He died way too soon as he had so much more to give. Gone but never forgotten !!! |

I was born in 1971. John was my favorite actor as he always played himself it seemed. I would have loved to have known him. he seemed so incredibly down to earth. he always made me laugh. even though I only knew him in his movies which are all great to re-watch, his passing was & is very sad. I extend this to his two children. peace, love, & happiness to you. |

I really, really miss John Candy. He died way too soon.
I love his movies a lot and wish he made more. I like Planes, Trains and Automobiles the most. One of the best comedies ever made. On the end of the movie, I almost always have to cry… it’s hard not to do.
He is a great person and a great actor.
A quote from John Candy in the movie : Planes, Trains and Automobiles:
‘. .. but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. Well, you think what you want about me; I'm not changing. I like... I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get.’
That is right, what you see is what you get.
I will never forget him.
