He was very funny! He is a comedy genius and I wish he made more movies today as well. There will never beianyone else like him. There is hardly any more great comidians out there anymore as there was during his time like his friends Eugene Levy, Dan Akroyd, Tom Hanks, Bill Murry, Harold Ramis etc. God Bless Him! |

Am in tears after reading all these beautiful messages. I so wish I had had the chance to meet John Candy in person, he seemed so funny and kind and yet so vulnerable. I was only a year old when he died. Love him so much. |

As a kid, I grew up watching Monty Python and never thought anything could top that - until SCTV and John Candy. The whole cast were awesome and the show was brilliantly funny. But John Candy was the best - he still makes me laugh just looking at his smiling face.
He made such a rich family of characters that it's hard to pick a favorite although Johnny La Rue has to have the edge. I cannot imagine how much fun it would have been to be on the set of SCTV with such a great group of comic geniuses.
It pains me to think of all the humor and greatness we have missed with John's tragic early death. I happened to be in Toronto when his death was announced and it was earth shattering - how a vital and warm actor and funny man could leave us so abruptly. The whole city seemed to be in mourning - and I know the country too.
RIP my friend - you have made the world a better place and your legacy will continue for a very long time. |

Some of my best memories of watching movies as a kid, were those spent watching John perform. He brought life to each and every charachter he played, my personal favorite, Del Griffiith.
