My thanks to John Candy for many moments of laughter and enjoyment. Our 11 year old son died some years back from liver cancer. Through the difficult two years of treatment, my husband or I often watched some of John's many wonderful movies with our son. Those movies brought much laughter & joy to our son Josh as well as to us as we spent many nights in the hospital. Ultimately, our little one lost his battle to cancer & it has been difficult moving on without him, but as tough as those two years of treatment were, we have many wonderful memories, and some, very defiitely include Mr. Candy and his wonderful comedic work. Thank you from Josh's mom. |

It's strange... I never met or knew John personally, but i felt- and STILL feel like I lost somebody close. A piece of my heart died when he left us. |

JOHN Candy was a hudge insiration to me. It was in the little things he would do. my son was just starting a little acting career, a liile guy in a hude pond. As such there were lots of things he was not intitle to.One example was a drink fridge for the stars. john saw my little guy looking through the clear glass door. John asked an assistant to give him one, they explained it was not for him(wich was fine) Not fine by Mr John Candy he opened the door and told my son to help himself.Of all the things my son (who was about 6 at the time)would learn about the industry...this would be his best one. From that short meeting and warm smile i myself learned so much. Some years later i would start a not for profit for special-needs adults doing performing while leaning valuable life skills. He definity taught me that even the littist guy should be treated with respect.Thats why i am so darn proud to call him a fellow canadian... It was so much more than his movies...it was his true blue self. |

Loved John in SCTV. His laugh & cry sounded the same and was hysterical to listen to...Always remember him as William B. Williams kissing up to Sammy Maudlin. He had to be the most likable comedian ever! Such a loss...His kids are nice looking too. |

I just happened to put his name in and found out it is the anniversary of his death. Like watching those SCTV reruns that are being played now. |
