Mr. John Candy was the finest comic of his generation. He broke my ribs laughing at his Uncle Buck.. yet I wish soooo much to laugh so hard again! A superb comic, dearly missed!

Loved John in SCTV. His laugh & cry sounded the same and was hysterical to listen to...Always remember him as William B. Williams kissing up to Sammy Maudlin. He had to be the most likable comedian ever! Such a loss...His kids are nice looking too.

Great actor, love his movies. He was taken from us far too soon.

What a truly funny man. You have been and will continue to be, sadly missed. I still love watching Planes, Trains and after all these years still laugh out loud.

I just happened to put his name in and found out it is the anniversary of his death. Like watching those SCTV reruns that are being played now.

Steve Fri, 4 Mar '11
I saw elsewhere this was the anniversary of his death. I met John at a convention in Las Vegas, I guess 20 years ago now. He had been hired by a sponsoring company to greet folks in a hospitality suite. We chatted for a very short time about his work. I asked for an autograph, and he signed a map I was carrying: "Steve, thanks for the acting lessons! John Candy"

Like Allan says here, I could not believe how nice he was.

John
Continue to make the angels and God laugh in heaven. God took you way too soon, but you are at peace. My favorite movie of yours was "Only the Lonely"
RIP John forever

Never failed to make me laugh and am the proud owner of Uncle Buck and the Great Outdoors. I watch them often and will look out for Armed and Dangerous which I also love. What a lovely man!

Paul Boulter Sat, 26 Feb '11
Your films live on from Planes Trains to Cool Runnings. I am 41 now and still laugh out loud when I watch Uncle Buck, my 9 year old loves you too. RIP gone but never ever forgotten.
