it might be 2011 and there may have been some great films in the last 20 yrs including some great comedies but nobody has yet beaten Planes. trains & automobiles...it stands the test of time. Uncle Buck and the great outdoors is excellent too. His smile and his personality came across on screen. A larger than life character and i for one miss him on the screen.
RIP Big guy |

John, a really delightful man has made me laugh out loud in every film. Planes Trains + Automobiles remains one of the best as too is Uncle Buck. |

I do miss John and think of him fondly though it is a bitter-sweet memory. He left us too soon and I wish I had taken the time to let him know how much I admired him. I still get a bit misty toward the end of Planes, Trains & Automobiles. That is one of my favorite films. I just die when he gets into that laughing jag in the motel and leans out of the bathroom door laughing too hard to speak! It reminds me of some of my own escapades from my youth. John, I love you buddy. |

I went to school with John and was his friend at Niel Mc Niel in Toronto back starting in 1963
We had great times and tough times and he was always a good person and good friend. and was at his funeral at St Johns and was serviced by one of our teachers and priest of the Holy Ghost fathers from Ireland
I have a pic from the yearbook in grade nine when we were 13
I still miss him

I love the man that is John Candy, when there is one of his movies on, i'm like a deer in front of headlights, they don't make comedians like him anymore, I can't wait to sit and watch one of his movies with my son (who's only 1 month right now), rest in peace and warmest blessings to his family. |

I'v just introuced my son who is 6 to John Candy's movies. He love the Great Outdoors and Summer rental. When ever we go out for dinner he asks for the Old 96r and most people do not know what he is talking about. We just laugh and say Bon Appetit.
Can anyone tell me what was John's first movie?
Gone but not forgotten.
